One of many advantages to staying at the Victoria Hotel is its proximity to the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.

This venue, Canada’s largest soft-seat theatre, first opened in 1960 and has hosted thousands of international attractions and stars. Here is just a handful of the events that are coming soon to the Sony:

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater — February 1 & 2

Returning after a three-year absence, Toronto’s favourite NYC-based dance troupe is celebrating its 60^th anniversary. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, this time around featuring the music of Earth, Wind and Fire, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald and more, is bound to be a spectacular and memorable show.

Schitt’s Creek — February 25

Join the cast of Schitt’s Creek as they discuss the production process, tell behind-the-scenes stories and relive some favourite moments from the show. This will be followed by a Q&A where Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire and Noah Reid will answer your questions. All of them are masters of improv, so it should be a hoot to say the least.

Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal — March 1 & 2

Dance Me is a work inspired by Montreal-based poet, artist and songwriter — and Canadian natural treasure — Leonard Cohen. His songs are magically brought to life by three renowned choreographers, Andonis Foniadakis, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Ihsan Rustem, and 14 Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal performing artists.

Massive Attack — March 11 & 12

We can’t tell you whether Massive Attack’s keyboard player/vocalist Robert Del Naja is actually Banksy, but you may be able to decide for yourself at this show to celebrate the 21^st anniversary of the record “Mezzanine.” This audio/visual extravaganza was designed by Del Naja (and a few collaborators), as were most of the Bristol-based trip-hop band’s record covers. An interesting note about “Teardrop,” one of the more popular tracks off of Mezzanine: it was the original opening theme song for the show “House MD,” for the eight seasons it was on the air, but it was replaced when the show came to Netflix due to licensing issues. The show is poorer for it.

PAW Patrol Live! — March 15 to 17

PAW Patrol is the brainchild of Spin Master Entertainment, a Toronto company started by three university friends. Their global hit sensation about six heroic pups returns home to play for children, parents and anyone interested in having a great time. When Mayor Goodway goes missing, Chase, Marshall, Skye and the rest of the PAW Patrol team up with their boy pal Ryder to save her and stop the wrong person from winning the Great Adventure Bay Race. This family friendly frolic can be accessed with regular tickets as well as a Very Important Pup package that includes a premium seat, a gift and a Meet & Greet with the characters after the show.

You can choose from a host of pre- and post-theatre dining options, like Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill, Yonge & Front, Fran’s or Le Papillion, all steps from both the Hotel Victoria and the venue.
