48 hours in Toronto for Couples
Forty-eight hours of bliss with the love of your life.
Perfect. And with all the romantic things to do in Toronto, it can be. Arriving on a Friday? Here’s a Toronto-for-couples schedule.
Friday Night
Toronto is a walking city. And from our location, any direction you go can be a lovely stroll with your significant other. If you head south to Front Street and a tad east, you’ll come to Berczy Park and Toronto’s newest fountain — an homage to dogs. Grab a coffee or an ice cream, sit on one of the benches and watch the city go by. Alternatively, you could walk up one block from the hotel to King Street and head west towards the entertainment district where you’ll find plenty of places to enjoy an intimate dinner. If you’re into taking a longer stroll, stay on Yonge Street and walk all the way up to Bloor, maybe 20 blocks or so. You’ll pass a number of boutique shops (all open late), and you’ll see more than a few colourful people along the way. At Bloor Street, you’ll hit Yorkville Avenue, Toronto’s answer to Rodeo Drive, and some of the best window shopping in the city.
Saturday Morning
Toronto’s lakefront walkway was recently revitalized, and the grand vision has come to life more beautifully than anyone could have imagined. The boardwalk is a perfect place to walk hand-in-hand, and you’ll be able to get right up to the water’s edge and look out over Lake Ontario to the Toronto islands. If you walk a bit west to the docks, you can board a ferry and head over. Make sure you take the ferry to Ward’s Island if you want to avoid the crowds of rugrats heading to Centre Island.
Saturday Afternoon
After a night and a morning of walking, go for a couple’s massage at Hammam Spa on King Street. Then, when you’re sufficiently relaxed, you’ll be ready to explore KiWe (what we locals call King West Village). Head all the way to Liberty Village for a session at School, a funky restaurant that looks a feels like a classroom (they even put an apple on every table), then walk up to funky Queen West and head back all the way east to John Street. One block north is Grange Park and on the far side is the Art Gallery of Ontario where you can admire a world-class collection.
Saturday Night
Toronto’s theatre scene rivals those of New York and London and the theatre district is minutes from our hotel. Tickets are hard to come by on the day-of, so you can either book in advance or try your luck online.
Sunday Morning
Brunch is a big number in Toronto, and you’ll find no shortage of options. We’re fans of Insomnia at Bathurst Street and Bloor Street. This intimate haunt makes the best eggs benny in the city and the area around it is funky and fun. Since you’ll already be on Bloor Street, jump on the subway and head west towards High Park for a walk through Toronto’s largest green space.
